(25,331 posts)I hope someone contacted the authorities.
Sorry to get all jumpy, but this is so dangerous.
I can't fathom!

I don't get people who keep wild animals for pets. You'd think having children would be sufficient experience.

(25,331 posts)I've seen small ones constrict the arms of big burly snake catchers in Florida.
And they work in tandem with another catcher.

(11,686 posts)I am not sure that is a good idea as she is small and warm and this snake could get the wrong idea and squeeze her to death. Snakes go by instinct and this setting is an instinct waiting to happen.

I think it's good that the child is being raised not to hate or fear snakes, but such a close relationship is not a very sensible idea.

(17,235 posts)The parent(s) or snake handler are present and nearby and apparently know what they are doing. The snake looks very relaxed and ready for his afternoon nap. It is still an unnerving site.

(90,767 posts)allow my full grown (and large) python or boa any cuddle time with my child.
And it would all depend on the age - and size - of the child. (and snake)
Also, with the child's permission. If the child doesn't want to learn about snakes, I would never force the issue. That would be cruel to subject a child already afraid of snakes to snakes.
I wouldn't want a child to grow up with a phobia of snakes - but instead with an awareness and respect for snakes and how deadly some snakes can be.
Always handle with care. Both your child - especially...and your snake.
