the sun went down at around 11PM during the summers.

(118,651 posts)that blue every single day. It doesn't get old. It is the glacial flour (rocks rubbed by glaciers until they make a soft powder) that makes it so pastel.

(41,205 posts)and I remember visiting Lake Louise.
Overall, my memories of Edmonton are more of how cold and dark it was in the winter, than of the long summer days. At least, I got to be really good at understanding negative numbers: much of the wintertime conversation was about how many degrees it was below zero. Brits have the opportunity for lots of conversations about rain, but not so much about below-zero temperatures!

(10,418 posts)It's damn flat up that way and I was there in the winter so it was also damn white, but I found the farmland of the central Canadian plains to be strangely beautiful despite that. The it was on to Vancouver, BC and boy was I in for a treat.

In Trondheim, it never got dark in mid July.
By the time I reached Iceland, it was August, so the son went down shortly before midnight.
