With the incomparable Bill Evans.

Miles Davis, trumpet; Bill Evans, piano; Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and John Coltrane, sax; Paul Chambers, bass; James Cobb, drums. The greatest jazz combo ever assembled. (Wonderful Wynton Kelly plays piano on other cuts on the album.) Probably the best jazz album ever recorded. Miles brought the charts to the studio, sight unseen, and the whole album was recorded on the first take. So they say. Regardless, it is astounding music.

Just thought it would add something here.

My best. Enjoy!

"Kind of Blue" is the best jazz album of all time, but for me, not the greatest of Coltrane as an individual.

I still remember the first time I heard Coltrane's "My Favorite Things." I was in my early twenties, in a bad way spiritually and emotionally, and well, it changed everything in my life, just hearing that. A few minutes after "My Favorite Things" came "Alabama."

It was in a compilation, "His Greatest Years."

Like I say, that music changed my life.

This is nice work here that McLaughlin does, playing with the young folks, passing it on. It's not the greatest McLaughlin ever, but I appreciate the tribute to 'Trane. The kid on the piano does a nice McCoy Tyner evocation.
