Has anyone else watched Ozark on Netflix?

When I saw the previews, I was intrigued by the premise. Then I read some lukewarm reviews and it dulled my enthusiasm a bit.

Finally someone else recommended it to me and I figured what the hell and decided to check it out after all.

Bottom line: Best television drama since Breaking Bad, IMHO. And that's not an easy feat, because there have been some really quality dramas post Breaking Bad (Bloodline, Better Call Saul to name a few).

It has a similar feel to Breaking Bad--Everyman is forced into the criminal underground due to extreme circumstances--without feeling like a Breaking Bad copycat.

Both Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are excellent, but it's a relative newcomer Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore that absolutely steals every scene she's in.

If you have Netflix, this is definitely worth a watch.

I recommend it highly, although I have a teensy problem with suspension of disbelief where it comes to accepting that Jason Bateman is a flawed protagonist.

Of course, it took a while to get past Bryan Cranston as Hal from Malcolm in the Middle, but eventually in time Walter White took over.

Mrs. Starsky and I watched Ozark. It held our interest. Acting is pretty good and there is some fun dialogue. But don't think about it too much, or you'll realize just how preposterous the whole thing is.

Probably the sole exception to the rule would be The Wire, which just felt incredibly real in all aspects.

Certainly the most important and relevant one.

There is a good reason that major universities have college courses centered around that show. It is unbelievable how many layers there are in it.

My opinion changes daily, though.

What is the new AMAZON one with Billy Bob?

Laura Linney was superb - and Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore - so young, and so talented...

Kudos to the writers as well -

It starts out a lot darker than "Breaking Bad," but it's worth sticking with; really grows on you.

I'd recommend Patriot, if you have Amazon Prime. Quirky for sure, worth indulging!

great to binge, although we spread it out over a week. Now, if they can make sure season 2 doesn't suck.

Another good one is Bloodline. Season 1 -- top. Season 2...eeeeh...got good at the end. Season 3...was okay...then meh...the ending? terrible. just terrible.

Really enjoying Season 3 of Narcos.

I really enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2 but I was wondering how the show would hold up once it moved past Escobar.

I loved Bloodline, and not just for the Florida Keys setting. But the problem was that Netflix suddenly decided to cut it from a 5 season arc to 3 seasons, which explains the failure to tie up all loose ends at the end.

Right now I decided to start Sons of Anarchy. I'm up to the middle of the second season. It's okay but not exceptional.....it's sort of like the Sopranos, plus motorcycles, minus dynamic and well-written main characters. To tell you the truth I actually like the secondary peripheral characters (the police, the girlfriend) far more than the guys in the motorcycle gang, who are a little boring IMHO.
