I hope this is the right forum to post this. I need to give a little back story...
I had a huge crush on this girl way back many years ago in high school. I just admired her from afar for a few reasons: 1) She was gorgeous, and I wasn't the best looking guy. 2) I was painfully shy. 3) She was much younger than me...I was a senior and she was a freshman. Mainly because of these reasons, I just never spoke to her. It was safer that way. I just assumed she didn't know I existed.
So here is what happened yesterday.
There is a huge grocery store that I shop at on a weekly basis. I was in there yesterday, and she was in the same aisle as me, maybe 25 feet away. I recognized her immediately because I swear...she has not changed one bit. I kind of gave her a side eye look and smiled a little. Her eyes went wide and she got very animated...OH MY GOSH! LOOK HOW HANDSOME YOU ARE! GIVE ME A HUG! Then she actually ran toward me with her arms outstretched. I was shocked she even knew who the hell I was. I opened up my arms in preparation to hug her, and she flew past me to a man and young boy that were standing some distance behind me.
She ran up to the little boy, scooped him up in her arms, began smothering him with kisses saying "Did daddy take you for a haircut? Who's my handsome little soldier?
The daddy just gave me a dirty look as I stood there with my arms still outstretched.
I had no idea how to get out of the situation with grace.
So I fainted.

(409 posts)Everything from shock, excitement, nerves, confusion... all the way down to horror & embarrassment. It's no wonder you fainted. That's a lot of feelings to cycle through in the course of a minute or so.

(34,489 posts)This should be a scene on a commercial or something. Well it sorta was...on movie though. Jumpin Jack Flash with Whoopi Goldberg. She was to finally meet the guy she was interacting with on the computer and they agreed to meet at a restaurant. So Whoopi was at the table waiting and some handsome guy walks in all smiling and waved at her...she waved back. As he got closer, she stood up and was ready to hug him with all smiles. He smiled and said hello and walked past her to join the group of people he was meeting. I cracked up!

(275 posts)When I was a senior at Penn State, I was walking down the street in State Collage. This young woman ran up to me, threw her arms around me, gave me a big kiss and said "oh Bob, I didn't know you were back here, I've missed you". I had to truthfully answer, "It's great to meet you, But my name is Jim." I've never seen anyone so embarrassed.
