New York elected officials joined low-wage workers Thursday in New York City to condemn Walmart’s impact on low-wage workers and their communities. Walmart hasn’t opened any stores in New York City, but the Walmart model is being followed in many jobs across the city’;s five boroughs, according to a new report called “Low Wage Rage: How Walmart and the Walton Family Harm New York City’s Workforce”. The New York City action is part of a national day of action protesting Walmart and the Walton family.
