I wish I had more time to spend on painting. Seems like life is always happening first.

Isn’t it amazing how finding something you did a while back and forgot about can look so good? The way you rendered the rocks is amazing! I really like it and I must admit I’m impressed with it. The shapes and texture are excellent and the colors and brush strokes add a feel of real substance and depth. You also did a terrific job on the water and the lighthouse. I love this painting! It has substance!

I’m truly humbled by your comments!

You know, the rocks were the hardest part for me. When I did the first layer, I was so discouraged, because I thought they were just going to look like blobs. A friend who is also an artist told me to try painting each rock individually and don’t do them in a cluster, and I think that really helped. (as did a fine point paint pen in a few places). I’m thrilled you think so much of my efforts!

My biggest problem seems to be finding a large block of time or else I’d have more.

Do you still paint/draw?

I’m kind of the opposite - I’m trying to get back into it after 40 years!

I haven’t been very well this year so it’s been slow going for me. But I think about it all the time. At least I’m being creative in my mind.

I hope you find the energy and strength to start up again.

I read once that athletes can improve their performances by imagining themselves excelling even when they aren't training. And I hope the same holds true for you: that by imagining yourself making art, you'll find that you aren't out of practice when you are able to pick up a brush or pencil again.

I do this often … but especially when I’m in the middle of a painting - I imagine in my head how I’m going to render this or that at all odd hours of the day. My mother always used to tell everyone that her youngest daughter’s head was always up in the clouds. I guess I haven’t changed much!

I struggled trying to find the right way to express the light at that time of day which is like late sunset. I am glad you like it!

👏👍

I really, really like the composition, and the rendering of directional light!
So well done on the building, and rocks.
