Quilting artist Mazloomi wins $50,000, gives it away

This month she was named a United States Artists Fellow, one of 60 artists nationwide to win a $50,000 cash prize. United States Artists is a Chicago-based arts funding organization. This year, in particular, judges were looking for art that would “inspire curiosity, empathy, and action toward building a more honest and just world,” said spokesman Robert Grand.
