It looks like it will be the liberal version of the type of humor Trey Parker and Matt Stone do -- polemic vitriol aimed at essentially harmless targets. The exceptions in Goldthwait's movie being the group that protests funerals with their hate filled placards, and the Limbaugh inspired talk show host. These two groups have caused a lot of harm to the country. But the Kardashians? Seriously?

I don't like people who talk during movies too, but there are larger fish to fry in terms of satire. Also, the level of violence aimed at most of the people in this movie is way out of proportion with any actual misconduct they may have committed. It comes off as vicious, condemning and cruel. I can't watch most of the shows and movies by Parker and Stone for this very reason. They seem hypocritical and smug in their choices of targets, and the amount of red hot hatred they spend on basically powerless groups has always left me perplexed.

This type of black comedy is always hard to pull off, as it has the potential to make the protagonists seem too repellent, thus overshadowing any satirical points aimed at the targets. It takes a deft hand to pull off that type of comedy, and one of the few movies that come to mind that was successful is Kind Hearts and Coronets, probably because they didn't dwell on the violence of the retribution.

Let me just state that I'm a big fan of satire; I loved MAD and SPY magazines, The National Lampoon Radio Show, The Onion, Daily Show and Colbert Report. However, the South Park type of comedy leaves me cold.
