What is your favorite movie decade?

For me, it's the 30s. The escapism. The screwball comedies. The musicals. The clever double entendre that today has become too explicit. The lightening-fast dialogue. The story lines that have shown their contemporary relevance all these decades later.

My favorite series are the Thin Man movies.

Today, in the economic downturn that mirrors in many ways the 1930s, the spirit of all the movies of that era continue to resonate.

I especially think the women actresses were strong women, in strong roles, really expert in their craft. When you compare them to the most successful actresses in the postwar era, there is no comparison: many roles were silly, light-weight fluff, lots of musicals, etc.. There were some exceptions, such as Elizabeth Taylor.
