It's always been one of my guilty pleasures. Many of the scenes are stunningly beautiful. Acting is workmanship with Kerr and Granger doing very well, a bland Carlson not doing much to detract from the stars, and a chilling Hugo Haas as a villainous foil.

Highly recommended, unforgettable film. Possibly the best of the genre; certainly the most beautifully filmed.

It stands up well.

Imagine a 9 yr old being exposed to the elaborate tribal customs, rituals and dress of the peoples of Africa as they were presented here. Absolutely fascinating.

And it began my idolizing of Stewart Granger. In King Solomon's Mines, Prisoner Of Zenda and Scaramouche he just kept getting better and better.

To this day I can watch any of these films again and again when they are on.
