The fact that Joan Crawford was making films in six decades is phenomenal. Her filmography shows over 100 movies from 1925 to 1970. I can think of only John Wayne to compare with her longevity. Wayne appeared in 180 movies from 1926 to 1976.

There were better actors than both of course but they are the epitome of what it meant to be a "Movie Star" in the era of the Classics.
