With Lionel Barrymore, Edward Arnold, Spring Byington, Ann Miller, Mischa Auer, and a whole cast of loonies!

It's an absolutely wonderful film. Frank Capra at his best.

Ready for some good old Polly Wolly Doodle?

There is a speech that Lionel Barrymore gives to Edward Arnold while they are in jail that I just loved. I'll have to see if I can find a clip of it.

Barrymore in this is almost the complete opposite of his Mr. Potter in Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life".

I have never seen this on stage. Has anyone? How close to the film is it?

It is a wonderful film. And both films were Frank Capra, both with James Stewart and Lionel Barrymore.

I absolutely love Jean Arthur, especially in this film. And then there's the incredible ensemble cast.

It is truly a wonderful thing.

...at least one or two of which were shown on TV. I can't recall how the different versions stacked up, though I did enjoy the one televised stage production I saw. See link below.
