Ava Gardner is wonderful as Moira. Fred Astaire is surprising in a dramatic role (his first?). Gregory Peck, as always, is very good. The supporting cast delivers, too. Look for the actor who played Crocodile Dundee's mate, John Meillon. And filmed in Australia, of course.
Stanley Kramer delivers here, although the book's author, Neville Shute, hated the film.
