A few clips of rather incredible Classical pieces - live concert segments. Share your favorites.

Last 4 minutes of Mahler's Resurrection (#2), conducted by Bernstein. This is simply amazing.

Last 6 minutes of Mahler's 8th (Symphony of 1000) by Rattle. Probably what I consider the most beautiful music ever written.

last 15 minutes or so of Shostakovich Symphony 4 - by Gergiev. Absolutely crushing - this is the one that he hid in the drawer until long after Stalin's death

I decided to go "small"
Music by Heitor Villa-Lobos

When I was 40 years younger, at the University of NCSchool of the Arts, Andres Segovia gave a Master Class. I lived on campus at the time, and sneaked into the small room where this happened. I'll never forget my ecstacy to witness him teaching the young.

Lyric:
"Evening, a rosy, slow and transparent cloud
Over the space dreamy and beautiful
The Moon sweetly appears in the horizon,
Decorating the afternoon like a nice damsel
Who rushes and dreamy adorns herself
With an anxious soul to become beautiful
Shout all Nature to the Sky and to the Earth!
All birds become silent to the Moon's complains"

Best crowd reaction ever and the kids (who are in the care of Sir Colin Davis) love it:
