That is one song that should be played with the volume turned up LOUD!

I wonder when this was done. Grace Slick had left the band by the time that song came out, although she sang background vocals on it. This must have been after she came back to the band, but why would they sing an "old" song on American Bandstand?

Did the artists always lip-sync on AB? I thought they sang live sometimes, but I might be misremembering it

But whoever posted this on YouTube typed that in as the title. The date isn't mentioned on the video itself.

The song came out in 1979, but I think this video was made later, in the early 1980s. Probably after Slick came back in 1981.

It looks like they put the wrong date on it. Here is the interview after the song. it has the year as 1983.

Just wish I had seen the Starship when he was with them! I heard them in 1970 at the West Palm Beach Pop Festival, but Grace sang this.

I did see Mickey with Elvin Bishop in a bar in San Jose, CA. He was sooo good then, not surprised at all when he moved up. His version of Jane is awe inspriring, it's so freaking intense and excellent!
