The Temps really were great. They could change it up and still stay the Temps.

Everything about it was so meticulously placed.
The Temps were actually upset that the song was more about the arrangement than their singing, but it became a #1 hit and one of their legendary tunes.
It was so good that AM radio incessantly played the "edited" version which was still 7 minutes long. When AM radio was willing to play a 7 minute song, it had to be great.
