(33,643 posts)The side 1 and 2 closers of Someone Saved and Curtains are just ... SO GOOD. Gotta play both songs hella loud, let 'em envelope you ... two total classics that sound brilliant at high volumes
And I just love the band's performance, and the production, on When the Whistle Blows ... so clean, so tight ... it's a forgotten Elton classic in my book. Good melody and lyrics too ...
There's two more songs on the later-remastered CD, a Lennon cover and Philadelphia Freedom, but those don't count. They weren't on the record when it came out

(14,173 posts)I really like the cover song. Its so damn catchy! I love the slow build up and back and forth. Hint of country. And I think its a song about John and Taupin starting out too.

(13,188 posts)All the people who made up his "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" back band were awesome. So called because they worked with Joe Cocker around the same time of course. Elton was on top as well. He was at his peak as a vocalist and pianist.
