Hell probably half the page views are me re-listening to this song. It bears up to repeated plays really well.
Thanks Glam, never heard this before ya posted it

Love the..... what? Flamenco feel? And of course Emmylou. Mrs. Glam went and saw Willie last nite. Crazy he's still touring.
Glad you enjoyed it me bradda! Tis why I post.
Check out "Just Breathe" from him too. Been trying to post that one for months, YouTube won't let me. Great tune.

(3,064 posts)3. This song was originally released in 1964.
This may be the original, albeit considerably remastered. It's a real orphan, recorded on the Monument label, the only recording of Willie's they even released. He left them for RCA shortly thereafter, I believe.
With tunes like Claude King's "Wolverton Mountain," Ned Miller's "From a Jack to a King," and Faron Young's "Hello Walls" riding high on the country charts this was different, to say the least.
The construct of this tune was light years more lyrically complex than anything on the country charts, or any charts for that matter.
If Jerry Garcia heard this out in San Francisco he most likely wound up scratching his head wondering," What the fuck is this guy smoking and where can I get some?"
But it was a total flop. Other than some airplay in Texas it was shunned by C&W stations everywhere. I recall listening to it as a kid in Temple, Texas.
It does put the western back into C&W.
I think it's brilliant.
