I loved the Stones from the very beginning. Oddly enough, I never cared for the Beatles. Arkansas Granny Oct 2014 #2

the father of one of my childhood friends bought him a Rolling Stones album for his birthday. He was surprised and asked his dad how he knew he liked the Rolling Stones. "I didn't", he said. "I just went into the record store and found the record with the picture of the ugliest queers on the front of it."

This was indicative of how our parents felt about British rock bands with long hair.

I liked the Stones back then (I was crazy about almost all the British invasion groups). My dad's only reaction to me when they appeared on Ed Sullivan was that their mannerisms especially by Mick Jagger were those of "queers", to use his term. Back then when I was about thirteen, I wasn't even sure of what he meant. I just know that I loved their music.
