They are almost like a hometown band, and I went to so many of their concerts in the late 60's and early 70's. Duane Allman is one of the best guitarists ever, so brilliant. Dickie Betts, Greg Allman, Butch Trucks and the 2 drummers were totally all that and a glass of ice tea. I remember being on acid when I heard them for the first time start in on Whipping Post - it was so magical and perfect. Still one of my top 5 all time songs to this day. Every time I hear Whipping Post I get a flashback of that most awesome night with the perfect song.

I relish the concert we saw in Oct. 1972, Marietta, Ohio College Homecoming and can remember it clearly.

Wonderful, once in a lifetime musicians and were we fortunate.

He ranted and raved about them and took my sister and me to see them before their first album came out. The drummers and Trucks had played with a local band here that was really good, so lots of people came to that first concert, even before the album. It was in such a small venue, OMG it was one of the best experiences ever. You heard them too, so were definitely lucky to share in the magic.

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is a great offering, one of their top efforts. I love their mix of jazz, blues and screaming rock and roll, their mixture of beats is amazing to me.
