Too much electricity is bad for the soul

So here is an all acoustic monster piece from Peetie Wheatstraw, which includes this awesome lyric:

You can't stop me from drinkin'
It ain't no use to try
You can't stop me from drinkin'
It ain't no use to try
Because the way you treated me

Hoo-hoo-well-well, I'm gonna drink until I die

You can't stop me from runnin' around
Also from having my ball
You can't stop me from runnin' around
Also from having my ball
Because I am tired, ooo-well-well

Of another mule kicking in my stall

Peetie Wheatstraw had soul, man. Great find, sir.

Here's another of the same expression by the talented Louis Jordan:

I keep learning and as I learn more I realize that there is so much more to learn.

Some folks think I know a lot of music, but I disagree. If I knew so much, I'd have heard this before

He recorded a faithful cover of a dozen Louis Jordan songs on his album "Jumpin' Jive." Here's the YouTube link:

Although it's not as gritty as the originals, these performances still rock, so enjoy!

P.S. Your posts suggest you know a lot more about music than you give yourself credit for.

He fell off my radar- I think we both moved away from where we were musically when I was into him (78-80 or so).

Eeesh - that sounds fucking pompous.

What I mean is that he started doing other styles and I started listening to different music as well and we didn't really intersect that often - I still liked Joe, but rarely heard anything that pushed my buttons.

Oddly enough, if I had heard this record at the right time it would have been a favorite.

I like swing NOW, but Joe was a decade and a half ahead of me

Everything in moderation!

Including electricity. Just meant that I'd been on a heavy electric guitar binge and needed some old blues
