I have been chasing guitar sounds around the YouTube for a long while

It's my hobby. I enjoy sharing my finds here in DU MA - so please bear with me on this...

I'm home with a stomach bug today and I'm just hanging around listening to guitarists from central west Africa.

This area is immensely important to all of today's music.

The music that came to America from this region in the voices and memories of slaves were the seeds that grew into every type of music that we came to claim as American.

But they didn't quit playing music over there while we took their musical traditions and molded them into Blues, Jazz and Rock. In fact they welcomed those musical grandchildren back home.

The music coming from the Niger, Western Sahara, Ghana region is fucking amazing

He is the one of the best drummers in the world. Weird thing is he moved there after Creams 'Disraeli Gears'. Can't imagine how he topped that music.

Also, Paul's 'Band on the Run' was done there.

more exposure in Europe and America.

It didn't really catch on back then, and his attempt to organize a tour was unsuccessful... Bummer

A couple years back another rock icon - Iggy Pop - did a collaboration with Songhhoy Blues called Sahara

It's very cool as well:
