at a free concert in Central Park, about 2 weeks before Woodstock. I was blown away and HAD to get the album as soon as it was released a few weeks later.

in 1968 but dad said we were too young to go, 3 hr drive. He was right..

He was interviewed several years ago, and he said that the performance schedule changed a few times, and they were told they would be on much later, so he dropped a hit of acid.

Then they told them to go on stage.

He said that his guitar neck was like a writhing snake, and he's never been really sure how he got through it. (My guess is that it was raw, pure talent.)

... thanks to the YouTube machine. Santana has always been among my favorites. I was just about three years too young to fully appreciate Woodstock at the time, but this music has brought immeasurable pleasure to my life.
