I feel sad for folks who dont know the pre Perry Journey, easily the best musicians in one place at the time.

(11,800 posts)That's quite the combo! You don't fit into the "whadya call the guy that hangs out with 4 musicians" joke do ya?
That's the beauty of music though. Those artists live on forever through each successive generation. Much like America, music is a melting pot.....

(11,800 posts)Don't be offense man, I wasn't throwing that at you! That joke applies to me. I'm no musician, but I'll toot my own horn and say I'm a great front man. I can sing my ass off and I can keep a crowd entertained for as long as necessary, but don't ask me to play any chords...

I remember the WHO/DEAD concert on the Green. Keith Moon...etc.

(11,800 posts)Drummers wanna be singers, singers wanna be drummers. Soooo true. I wanted to be a Singer as early as 5. At 13 I wanted axset of drums soooo bad. Mom's excuse? I can't afford lessons. Oh, okay! I'm not old, but I wasn't born yesterday mom! Her worst fears came about regardless. Now she's upset I'm not currently playing. "You're so good. It breaks my heart that you're not singing..." I never let it go though. Just imagine how good a drummer I'd have been. You've seen me with maracas, tambourines, wood blocks. You may have robbed the world of the next Keith Moon mom, I hope you're happy.

(8,573 posts)I don't know if it was the venue, the sound man or both, but the sound was horrible everywhere except outside at the smoking area. You couldn't be inside and hear it as music, just an overwhelming noise.
Editing to add, I love The Band and Robbie Robertson as a solo artist. The Last Waltz is an amazing film, probably the best concert film ever; there are several songs on it that are my 'favorite versions'!

(11,800 posts)I'd seen em like a half dozen times and dragged my guitar player to see them ranting and raving about what a great show. First set, the sound was just awful! Too loud. Everything was distorted. They got it dialed in for the second set though, so I was vindicated.
What a great time that gig was! Ended up in some tiny little bar on a corner in S. Bend. With like 4 other local NW Indiana bands we were friends with. We were the only people in there. Literally. We come piling in, like 20-25 of us and just owned the place for three or four hours. Bringing in McDonalds from across the street, rocking the jukebox. What a great night!
