As a teenager in the '70s, the Carpenters were among my musical favorites. Richard's vocal arrangements and instrumental orchestrations were sophisticated and flawlessly recorded. But it was all kind of too perfect but it was mostly top-40 after all.

This performance is quite remarkable and I had no idea Richard had such a jazz influenced piano style. His chops are impressive and at the beginning of his solo, his right hand is wailing!

Karen's drum playing is superb, as always.
