Summer In The City (Hot Town)- The Lovin' Spoonful

1. Saw David Bromberg and John Sebastien play at a lovely restored theater in downtown

Beverly, MA a few years back. Just the 2 of them. Delightful show and they covered "Summer in the City". Small venue, maybe 500 max. During a break in the action, I yelled "Play, ' Demon in Disguise' Got a few, "yeah, play it!" from the audience. Bromberg smiled and said, "we haven't practiced that one".

Another special moment. I walked out after the show, but realized that I didn't have my wallet. I ran back in and up to the seats we had....front row balcony - - and found it. On the way back out, John Sebastien was at the exit having small talk with some folks. I stopped and thanked him for the great show show with Dave. I added, "Damn, I wished you had done Demon in Disguise. He laughed and said, "that really would have been a great song for them to do. I'lll talk to Dave about that"....

I'd date around 75/76....just a great acoustic/harmonica tune....
