I was 11. My parents allowed me to go to the record store and buy one to play on the new record player. It was a big deal, and I remember thinking long and hard before choosing.

I guess that says something about my personality or perspective at a young age, and the times we were in. I hadn't had much exposure to popular music at that time. I had older parents who listened to opera and show tunes. I played classical piano and gave recitals. I remember I liked Roberta Flack and Aretha Franklin, and would listen to the radio waiting to hear their songs, but I bought this record because it was positive and hopeful.

Thanks for sharing.
