Up With People!

Somewhere around here, I have this album. I don't remember buying it, so maybe it's part of the Mister's collection that was merged in with mine. --- I wonder if it's worth anything.

Up With People!
Original Release: Up With People! III (1968)

It happened just this morning I was walking down the street
The milkman and the postman and policeman I did meet.
There in ev'ry window and ev'ry single door
I recognized people I'd never noticed before.
Up! Up with people!
You meet 'em wherever you go
Up! Up with People!
They're the best kind of folks we know.
If more people were for people
All people ev'rywhere
There'd be a lot less people to worry about
And a lot more people who care.
People from the south-land and people from the north
Like a mighty army I saw them coming forth.
'Twas a great reunion befitting of a king!
Then I realized people were more important than things.
Up! Up with people!... etc.

My 14-year-old self got dragged by my parents to see Up With People when it performed in DC in 1967. Parents bought a copy of that album after the show. I sure never listened to it, LOL. But I can still hear that damn song!

10 years. It was very conservative and extremely religious. I've seen some of their productions which were light, interesting, well choreographed and entertaining if maybe a little heavy on the messaging.

At the same time I was listening to more liberal versions, like Hello People and Ars Nova.

No doubt, they were a little message heavy, too.
