When they were recording "Fooled Around & Fell In Love", Elvin wasn't comfortable with the vocal part.
He was unhappy with his phrasing, he wasn't happy with the way the melody flowed, and other stuff.
One of the engineers said "Hey, Mickey Thomas is in the studio down the hall. Maybe we can ask him to come sing it and see if it sparks any ideas you can use." Elvin said "Cool Idea."
So, they go get Mickey.
Mickey comes in, listens to playback, sings along a bit and says he's ready to go.
He goes in the booth and starts singing the song. After one verse, Elvin stops him and says "I've heard enough. Mickey, you just sing the damn song."
So, the hit recording has Mickey Thomas as the lead vocalist.
