they played electric in NYC at the Village Vanguard with about 500 people. I probably saw them nine times.

Saw them at Mt. Charlies, a small stoner bar in the Santa Cruz mountains frequented by the Doobie Brothers before they were famous!
Anyway, Hot Tuna totally rocked! Saw the Airplane a couple of years before then in 1970 and they were even better than Hot Tuna because of Grace Slick, IMO. Hot Tuna was more funky, a lot more laid back & wonderful but Slick was something else. She added such a presence & great vocals.
