(22,767 posts)It didn't take half way, it grabbed me from the very beginning and never let go. Can't wait to listen to it again and share it with some folks I know who will love it!
Thanks so much, patphil!

(22,767 posts)I live in OK and have had some opportunities to learn about, and experiences with, Native American culture through friends and acquaintances. But this just wrapped all of that up and really sold it!
I've not seen her in a very long time and I'm telling you, this just blew me the fuck away!

Whether you're woman or whether you're man
Sometimes you got to take a stand
Just because you think you can
You got to run
You got to run...

(22,767 posts)A friend I shared this with found it on YT. She also pointed out the shout out to Standing Rock by Tanya toward the end, too. I'd missed it, so focused on BSM.

(22,767 posts)I figured I had lost track of her because I love so much music and so many musicians, but no! In an interview in 2008 at the Museum of the American Indian, she said that she and other indigenous artists were actually blacklisted by American radio stations back in the 1970s.
There's an authorized biography about her that was published in 2018. I just put a hold on it at my library.
