This WABC aircheck helped get DJ Roby Yonge fired

Remember the "Paul is dead" brouhaha in 1969? Here's an aircheck of the first broadcasts to discuss it. The DJ, Roby Yonge, was taken off the air and fired because he espoused these wild conspiracy theories about the Beatles. (Too bad right-wingers who say conspiracy theories today don't get fired.) But Yonge describes extensively the wild conspiracy theories. Wild stuff.

1. Roby Yonge. Not Ruby. He was the Big Kahuna on the air in Miami before

he got hired at ABC. He was just a kid in his early 20s.

He’d already been told that WABC wasn’t renewing his contract. This is why jocks aren’t generally allowed to say goodbye after they know their job is about to be gone.
