readership -- I was just checking the recs for this OP and at this point I see only one person who recced this also recced a Lounge thread I'll link to below -- I want to ask everyone seeing this who appreciates this amazing cover of "Eight Miles High" and the great musicianship to please see this OP, posted last month after George Kooymans, the Earring's founder and lead guitarist, did a radio interview, his first after being diagnosed with ALS:

I watched this video myself several times late last night. Loved watching it. Also had tears in my eyes at times, since George has said he can no longer play guitar. Golden Earring didn't disband until last year, after the diagnosis, and he'd been working with other artists as well, still writing and recording. He'd been playing guitar since he was 8 years old.

You'll find some more info in the replies in that thread. He did release a new album, his second album with his friend Frank Carillo, just a couple of weeks ago.
