Went fine. I was really happy with how my voice behaved! The practice got me hitting the notes despite age robbing me of 4 or 5 half-steps.
Room was full, so around 40 people, maybe less.
The guy I opened for was impressed by my playing & the power of my voice, as I used no amplification.
A couple ladies said they wished it was louder, but most people said they could hear OK.
So, I did it and my wife & her friends (and my sister) can quit bugging me.
Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and the song selection was well received, despite me doing 2 of the songs just for me, and 1 for my wife.
Doubtful I'll do it again

I hope you enjoyed it enough to keep doing it. Many of my favorite moments in life occurred on stage - including some of the really awkward ones.

(48,975 posts)I think I told you in email that I've been using your example to bug my musician brothers to get back out there.
If you think I'm going to stop bugging you...
Anyway, I'm thrilled it went so well!
Just keep in mind that
That went well. It made me happy and it impressed others.

Doubt I'll do it again.

(34,108 posts)You are happy with how it went? Then why would you not do it again?
Please do it again if you felt at all good doing it. It gets easier to do the more you do it and the easier it is the more you do it and more fun and just rewards from the crowd will carry it on.
I played in our symphony for almost 50 years. My health took me out 2 years ago and I can tell you, there is nothing worse than losing that feeling you get when you truly make people happy with what you can do.
Keep doing Mini Gigs and see how it goes. Really, we all need music that we love to play but also what we love to listen to. It is such a gift all the way around.

(65,013 posts)It was more important to my wife & our friends than it was to me.
I think I prefer recording now, because I play when I feel like it, and don't when I don't.
Besides, I get to play all the instruments so there's more variety.
It's just not that important to me anymore. Might not seem logical, but that's where I'm at.

And it's always nice to be able to choose when you want to work.
