This is from their 1991 album Bloody Buccaneers. It was not released as a single, which IMO was a mistake. It was a Top 10 album and on the charts nearly 5 months in the Netherlands. The lead single, "Going To The Run" - already posted here at https://democraticunderground.com/103472385 - peaked at #4 on the Dutch charts for a couple of weeks and was on the charts more than 3 months. But the next two singles didn't do well. The track below should have been the second single. (Just edited this after checking a different source on the singles and order of release.)
The studio version is good, but the 6-minute live version is even better. I could not find video of just that one song in a live performance. It starts at 37:45 in the video of their 1993 concert on the beach near The Hague (but the song immediately before it, "Turn The World Around," is great live and was also a Top 10 hit, and the song immediately after "Joe" is "Going To The Run" ).

Sorry for the nosiness.

(48,975 posts)As for where the high plains region is...well, you can find that out via Google.
I post very little personal info here, mostly because of some RW family members I made the mistake of mentioning DU to. They know this site but not my user name. One of them, who's already been in nasty family feuds on Facebook over politics, would not be able to handle what I've posted about politics here, and would not be able to shut up about it. I'd have to block his phone calls.

(12,904 posts)I really kicked it for the song, I just cant listen now. I am driving through southern Wyoming. Hubs gets testy when I play a song over his radio. Looking for songs for the playlist.
Wyoming looks like it could be the high plains. Lovely here today.

Would love to see you post your playlist, or at least favorites from it.

(12,904 posts)Wide open spaces. Great highways.
I have so many playlists. We take lots of long car trips. The one were listening to is called rollin turd and has 430 songs.
Pretty much everything on there, from Johnny Cash to Mavis Staples.

This Golden Earring song is perfect for a road trip playlist.

(48,975 posts)I saw your replies here - the Golden Earring song associated with road trips has always been "Radar Love" - but since then I can't hear "Joe" without imagining it as the soundtrack for a film scene with an aerial shot of cars speeding down a highway surrounded by wide open spaces.

(12,904 posts)We just left Denver for the Kansas plains. Well get home today after 12 days on the road. I am so ready for a home cooked meal.
I managed to collect up 24 great tunes to add to rollin turd
I love du!

(48,975 posts)for both the politics and the nonpolitical posts. This group is a great place to find new as well as old music favorites.
Re "Radar Love" and speeding - that song's probably helped cause more speeding tickets than any other song in history.
Road trips are fun, but yes, they can really make you miss home - including doing your own cooking again. Hope you had a wonderful trip!
