This was a year or 2 before he released his first cd. My guy at the time was in a band and they played backup a few times and we got to go to several after parties with Huey and the News. He was a cool dude! His records were more pop than the music he was playing then and I was a little disappointed. But later, without the recent memories of the bar sets, I really started enjoying his songs for the fun tunes they were, polished, professional and good.
