I shared a story with Sarge because he brought up a defense of Zappa in that "artists you don't like thread". So, here's a cut and paste of what i wrote to Sgt Dave. Think some of you might like it.
================================================================

> Well, in around 1997 or 8, i was in Germany on business. We stayed at the Frankfurter Hof.
>
> The 2nd day we were there we were getting back to our rooms at the end of the day and a guy comes walking toward us with 2 kids.
>
> After he goes by, one of the guys i'm with says to me "That guy looked familiar." I said "Yeah, that was Frank Zappa." (Later that night i saw a poster showing he was playing there a couple shows that week.) The kids were Moon and the younger son.
>
> Anyway, next morning i go down to meet the guys for breakfast and sitting in the atrium reading an international USA Today, was Frank. By himself, and my guys aren't down from their rooms yet.
>
> I go over and say hi, tell him i'm from Chicago, that i'm a musician too (but the science thing paid better) and that i really like his Shut Up albums.
>
> He says "You eat yet?" I tell him no, and he says "Well, i haven't ordered yet, have a seat."
>
> So, i sit down and had breakfast with Frank which he paid for. We talked music the whole time, and about the Dodgers and Cubs. When my guys came down to go the restaurant, i waved them off and met up with them in around 40 minutes.

They start to blend together
I got the time period wrong

(65,010 posts)It was 1992. We were visiting what the time was the Hoechst Fabrikewerks. (Giant! manufacturing site)
He was there with his ensemble apparently.
