7. They missed most of the counterculture

Because they weren’t allowed to visit the US from 1965-1969. When they were able to get to the US in the seventies, things had changed. So while other British Invasion bands became more Americanized, the Kinks remained quaintly British. But, if anything, this made them unique, and rather charming, in my opinion.
