Because his band was the band of freedom.
He could play anything from rock and pop to things that had no label other than Captain Beef heart
(But the truth is that I like Zappa better)

In Austin. Way back in May of 1975.
The live tracks on Zappa's LP "Bongo Fury" were recorded then.
