The power of the bassline

Last edited Fri Dec 20, 2013, 04:06 PM - Edit history (1)

In all musical styles, there are pieces you remember mainly for the bassline. It creates the foundation upon which everything else is built. Here are examples from jazz, rock, and classical music. If none of these is your type of music, please supply your own example.

Ambient audio only, sorry.

This is a work-in-progress so original composition, original lyrics copyright 2013 Marco Fernández Carrascosa and Marina di Maio. http://aridisland.com. Amusic Sociedad Cooperativa Integral, Lajares, Fuerteventura.

Edit: It works! Thanks for the thread, Lionel Apologies for quality of recording. We're working on that, but the ambience is nice at the Canela Café, I hope you'll agree.

That's a good example; the bassline continues throughout the song, tying everything together.

He's very imposing, that bass-player, Kiko (Chicco: Italian).

We're just starting to get our act together here, publishing-wise, and I'm a complete greenhorn as regards digital music publishing, learning as I go. I do the ambient sound recording, photography, video, web... and play an occasional jazz/rock/swing Generation D tin-whistle!). We have access to free studio time here too. Looking to start registering works via the UK, with an album now ready for mastering and release.

Any advice from DUers welcome!

Nb. All three above sounds in your OP are, of course, superb.
