Related: About this forumMoonshot. Air seemed turbulent, but I gave it a try.
Totality? 8 second exposure.
I hope others had better luck.

(9,795 posts)That was my third subject of the day. Flowers, then sunset. Still haven't looked at them all, and it's 10:22 pm here.
Previous eclipse photos came out very red, FWIW.

(149,614 posts)The faint blur could be turbulence, or perhaps camera shake. Did you use a tripod?
I was hand-holding, but that just did not work! So I hauled out my heavy-duty tripod and that helped a lot. I need a cable release cord, which probably would have removed the shake completely.
Anyway, I love your beautiful photo!

(9,795 posts)I took a look later, and there were clouds illuminated by the (now bright) moon.
Maybe they were a slight haze during the eclipse.
I used a tripod and set the self-timer for 10 seconds delay to minimize shake.
So, look. Here's a 2018 eclipse photo. Sharper, brighter, and more orange.
