a gang of thieves came to my house and i got a shot of one of them with my camera!

a group of about ten thieves came onto my property while i was out with my camera waiting for the monkeys to pass by so i could photograph them. the thieves saw me and decided not to approach, except for two of them. they had their eyes on some bananas that the monkeys had previously been enjoying. the two made a break for the bananas right while i was standing there but when they got close, the monkeys came out of nowhere and chased them away!

here is one of the culprits. he has been identified as Pteroglossus frantzii. be on the look-out!

Glad to hear that the moneys ended up with the bananas after all. Great shots of the "thieves" and hope that you got some nice monkey shots.

They don't do a thing about weeding around the base of the bushes or watering them.... well they do leave a bit of liquid sometimes.

They just take.

I revert colors on my phone at night and hadn’t reset it yet. I was trying to figure out what kind of critter you were talking about and realized I was looking at the wrong end of the bird!!!

Beautiful pics!

Round here, our thieves are blue jays and raccoons swiping cat food from the porch kitties, who are so spoiled they just watch them eat with a bemused, ah, what the hell look.

the trick is getting close enough for a good, detailed shot.

i'm playing around with a couple different locations for a bird hide....ultimately, i want to be able to get close enough to birds and monkeys to be able to shoot them with my 105mm micro nikkor lens...the only way that happens is if they can't see me.

gazza is magpie in italian but i had to look it up...i thought maybe it was heron/egret which is garza in spanish.

no magpies here, but we have magpie jays...one of these days i need to get back up to guanacaste and photograph them.

So you know what I thought.

Then I saw there were 10 of them and figured they ran off when you winged a couple and were lucky to be alive.

Anyway ... lovely pictures of what we in N.A. think of as an exotic bird.

But yeah, I really need to drink more coffee and actually put on my glasses in the AM before I try reading.

Including piles of peeled and cut-up bananas. Outstanding camera work on your part.
