(8,891 posts)98% of the time Tampa International flights land from the south over the bay to the north. When the prevailing winds are from the south, they switch to landing from the north to the south. This means any flights from the south of Tampa, i.e. San Juan, Nassau, Miami, Palm Beach etc. swing around to the north of me to land to the south. When they bank on the left turn, the wing drops and can give the impression I'm level with them. I curse cloudy weather, but it can give some spectacular effects. They are not as close as they seem, probably 1-2 miles out with a 2000mm lens, My goal with the series is to get a face in a window, pilot or passenger.
