Commonly known as Christmas cactus, schlumbergera bridgesii sometimes blooms in March. When I fell asleep last night only one of the buds was open. It was delightful waking to find two additional buds had bloomed.

I've never had much luck with them, but I'm glad you do!

I have been enchanted. Kind of hyperbolic, but it's how I feel.

(57,446 posts)three years ago, I abandoned that and some amaryllis to the housekeeping staff, who were still coming in. I hope they are enjoying them at home. That's pretty much how I got them in the first place.
I bought a small Christmas cactus at the half-price bin back at the end of the year at the grocery store. It's in a little metal bucket about four inches across. While looking for it just now, I have figured out that I left it outside a few days ago. Uh-oh. I hope it didn't freeze.

(86,607 posts)Though the only one that ever bloomed in my house was the one I was keeping for a friend while she moved. It was a large plant and it bloomed during March when I had it. Such an elegant and elaborate bloom.
Thanks!

(3,206 posts)dropped off before maturing and blooming. They can be force bloomed but I haven't tried doing that.
