March bloom: My schlumbergera bridgesii this morning

Commonly known as Christmas cactus, schlumbergera bridgesii sometimes blooms in March. When I fell asleep last night only one of the buds was open. It was delightful waking to find two additional buds had bloomed.

It is a wonderful plant to behold.

I've never had much luck with them, but I'm glad you do!

that she has no equal when it comes to beauty...

I have been enchanted. Kind of hyperbolic, but it's how I feel.

three years ago, I abandoned that and some amaryllis to the housekeeping staff, who were still coming in. I hope they are enjoying them at home. That's pretty much how I got them in the first place.

I bought a small Christmas cactus at the half-price bin back at the end of the year at the grocery store. It's in a little metal bucket about four inches across. While looking for it just now, I have figured out that I left it outside a few days ago. Uh-oh. I hope it didn't freeze.

Though the only one that ever bloomed in my house was the one I was keeping for a friend while she moved. It was a large plant and it bloomed during March when I had it. Such an elegant and elaborate bloom.

Thanks!

dropped off before maturing and blooming. They can be force bloomed but I haven't tried doing that.
