I'll be accepting and posting your entries for the July Photo Contest on Saturday. Early entries will be posted at that time as well.

This diner is in Heidelberg, Germany. Very Americana - from the movie star photos on the wall, to the menu offerings (named after American film stars and musicians), to the music playing (50's tunes right out of "Happy Days&quot It was intended to be that way. A very popular lunch spot.

1. OH Solly - it's just everything around me -

and as your photos prove, it's everything around you, too.

I took a half hour today, and went through photos. Americana squared. So much over time, and how to chose?
Since I have not been well lately, I know it will have to be a shot from my extensive files and my quirky mind finds ways for so much Americana emotion to apply on so many levels.
I may not be able to submit a choice, but you won't have a problem filling this one, after all, it's right after the fourth of July


I'm typing this to say I came up with a file of 12 possibilities after that half hour. I ran them past my grandson who is spending the summer with me, and whose opinion gets better every day he gets older.
He liked none of them. Much.
He said: Americana means Norman Rockwell. None of what you have fit.

I then read to him what you stipulated in your original declaration of the theme. He came back, holding up his phone with the website of Wikipedea for "Americana". He said: "We are both right."

So - I'll keep on looking for my entry, and looking forward to the contest.
I think it will be one for the photo forum history books.
I have the feeling you are having fun, you are "soaring".
It is a wonderful photo you won with!!!

4. this is turniong into a real quandry over what to enter

ive narrowed it down to 1 of 3 but really dont know which way to go. do i go with fireworks? or something else.

5. I'd only go with fireworks if I had a really special shot.

But then I'm no good at fireworks. lol

You, however, take really good ones.

Don't discount western artifacts in the history/culture of America.

Austin is also a big music town.

How helpful am I?

I have less than 5 early entries so far and those have been different from each other.

7. i tried to avoid fireworks

seemed like the type of thing alot of people would do right after the 4th and i wanted something different.
