Bluejay 'buzzing' a Crow

Little too far away but I thought it funny.

A crow was sitting in a tree the bluejays favor.

The bluejay lands

It sits there with the crow a few minutes. Obviously thinking about its next move.

The bluejay then leaps into the air, heading straight for the crow.

Sorta divebombing/buzzing the crow. The crow pops his head up and watches.

The bluejay then spreads its wings as it flies off. He settled in a tree just below to watch and loudly chirp.

Mission accomplished - the crow flies off shortly after.

I needed my other lens for clearer shots but these things can happen so fast...

Hope you enjoy.

I'm not sure you could have captured it as well with another lens.

I enjoy watching crows. They're just so smart. He caught my eye while I was waiting out a hummingbird that showed up.

PBS has a terrific Nature segment about crows and their astonishing reasoning capacity; very interesting and informative. Looks like a study of bluejays' brains might be useful!

The high tree is near the shrub and small tree area where the Bluejays nest. Also a water source there. That's probably why they wanted him gone. I've already seen mating pairs of Cardinals. I think female Cardinals are pretty.

Here's a crow landing in the same tree later on that day. The crows like the vantage point.

This is him getting resettled because of the winds.

This is him finally settled in for a bit.

I took wild shots since I had to change directions so quickly from what I was doing.

Birds do some crazy things.

The album is just for the house..sort of a collection of animals and other things I can see around my backyard.

I'm working on getting just the right photos. (and taking all kinds of photos in the process)
