there is a small collection of painted churches around schulenburg texas. these two are in praha and high hill. both date from the early 1900's
I havent been to the others yet,maybe next time

its about 90 minutes outside of austin. im going to try and get my photography group to have a meetup there sometime in october.
the churches were built by czech immigrants

people in that area of Texas (called German Hill Country here). Fredericksburg is my favorite spot in Texas.

if you are ever in Texas, the Hill Country is the place to go. A lot of beautiful country, plus the LBJ ranch just outside Johnson City (named for a relative of LBJ)

Haven't done hardly any domestic travels.

is the tiny place called Hye. which has a real bourbon distellery which gives the best distillery tour ive ever been on. there are also a lot of wineries between johnson city and fredrickburg (if your a wine drinker which im not )
johnson city is about a 40 minute drive west of my place in austn

I imagined quant southern churches painted in sometimes garish Cajun hues, but what I found was even more remarkable.

What you show is a fascinating study in color and geometric patterns. What a great opportunity, and very well done. The visual impact is incredible.
