Headshots

I did a short pass through Festival Latino yesterday. I will concentrate on headshots this time around, but will try to get full body shots of the native dress. I might even include color photos, but don't hold me to that.

When asking to take a photo of a person, use the word "portrait" instead of "picture." It seems to help your success rate. Rejection stings, but there's other fine subjects out there.

2. I learned how to say:

but NEVER got gorgeous portraits like this. You are a master, Alfredo. I keep scrolling. And I thank you for posting these

4. Thanks. Converting using a yellow filter makes a big difference in skin tones.

Getting up close (filling the frame) and using something longer than your nifty fifty helps. My next lens will be the Sigma 60mm. That will give me 120mm, a good length for portraits. Right now I am using a 30mm, a 60mm in practice. It's a bit short for a portrait lens, so I step back and crop in post so I don't get distortion.

After my nap, I will head out for more photos.

The expression on that little girl's face is wonderful. All VERY nice - as usual Alfredo.

I really like 4 and 5. I'd like 5 better if there wasn't a trash can in the background. Maybe I'm just being anal.

I've told you before; it's photos like these that speak very well of the photographer. They speak to the connection you have with your subject. Not an easy task but you manage to do it.

10. That damn can. I didn't pay attention to the background. I'm too old to be a threat, so people feel

safe. Smiles and compliments seems to put people at ease.


I think my experience in retail helps my photography.
