Related: About this forumMy last cat Sugar passed away tonight.
She was old, 18, hadn't been well for a while, and had been having trouble breathing. Tonight she came up from downstairs where she usually hangs out at night, had one little 30-second seizure, and as I was petting her to calm her, she slipped away. Old-timers here will remember her.
She was a great little kitty, and she'll be deeply missed.

(46,436 posts)It was as if she knew it was her time. She made a point to be with us. Another picture because you can't have too many.

(1,771 posts)It really sucks that most cats and dogs are with us for such a short time.
I'm sure you gave her a wonderful life. You should feel some comfort from that.

That's a lovely portrait of her.

We lost our 17 year old Simba last spring.
How fortunate that she sought you out when it was her time. RIP, Sugar.

(9,796 posts)We've lost four ourselves and know how painful it is to lose our babies. If it helps, just remember that her life was full of love and care. My Grimmer used to say that if heaven didn't have her dogs, it wouldn't be heaven. I feel the same way about our cats. We never have enough time with our loved ones.

(46,436 posts)She was quite photogenic. I have some really sweet pictures of her and Yuuko, our Shih-tzu, together. They were the best of friends. They ate each other's food (I'm sure Yuuko is wondering where her cat food is), drank out of the same water bowl, groomed each other. I don't know if Yuuko is fully aware that she's gone yet, although we have seen her looking all around downstairs in our family room where Sugar used to hang out. It just seems kind of empty here today.
